Connection Classes
We believe that the parents have the primary responsibility for the spiritual nurturing of their children and that it is the responsibility of the church to assist them in this task. Connection Classes are where we begin our task by laying a solid foundation for preschoolers to learn the basics of our faith. Connection class teachers partner with parents to help preschoolers learn basic Bible stories and truths and apply them to their lives. Varied and age-appropriate teaching methods, including the use of several learning centers as well as group experiences, are employed as a child progresses from the baby class through kindergarten.
Extended Teaching Care
During both worship services on Sunday mornings in our babies – Pre-K classes, we expand on the Bible study that is taught during our 9:45 am Connection Classes. While the same Bible story and Bible verses are taught during this time, the activities are unique so that meaningful learning will be achieved for both the child who is here multiple hours and those that attend one session only.
Music & Missions
Music & Missions or M&Ms teaches preschoolers in alternating quarters about one of these areas. During the missions segment, preschoolers learn about people and countries around the world and about the work of missionaries in these places. They also learn about groups within the United States that missionaries serve among such as homeless, migrant workers, ethnic groups, and international students. During the music segment, preschoolers typically learn through a variety of musical experiences and activities to praise God through musical expression. Typically, they learn several songs that they will later perform. Both segments have a strong emphasis on active participation in doing missions.
Childcare
Childcare through age four is generally provided during regular church services when other programming is not offered. Exceptions (such as Christmas Eve services) are generally advertised in church publications or on the website.
Paid childcare workers are carefully screened and supervised to ensure the safety of the preschoolers left in our care.
