Green Street’s College Ministry is intended for college students (typically ages 18-23) who are looking for a church home and an encouraging community as they enter this exciting stage of their lives. We want to keep pointing them to Jesus, help them grow in their relationship with Him, and develop spiritual and personal habits that will help them live life abundantly well into their adult years.
About Us
During the course of the year our College Ministry will change the way it looks depending on the time of year. During the Fall and Spring semesters we have students from the surrounding colleges and universities attending worship and connection classes (small-group bible study). During winter break and the summer we welcome back our students that have been away at school. Either way, we have an open and welcoming atmosphere regardless of the time of year.
Our Core Values
Spiritual Health
We want every college student we come in contact with to know Jesus and to desire to grow in Him. Everyone connected to this ministry will be challenged to go deeper in their relationship with Christ and learn to apply scripture to their lives and learn the disciplines of a life-giving walk with Jesus.
Significant Relationships
We were not created to be alone, so this ministry is devoted to building a strong community of believers who will encourage and build up one another in Christ.
Establishing boundaries
College is a time of endless opportunities but it’s also a time where most people are developing habits that will stay with them the rest of their lives. Not only when it comes to drinking, drugs, or sexual activity, but also time management and developing a healthy rhythm that keeps them challenged enough to remain dependent upon God and others, but rested enough to avoid burnout and discouragement.
Evangelism
We want to train and equip everyone connected with this ministry to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that will engage and be clearly understood by their peers. We are called to make disciples of all nations but that begins by sharing your faith with those closest to you.
Service Opportunities
We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus within our community and we have a number of ways to serve both Green Street Baptist Church and the community around us. From mentoring middle and high school kids to helping with a local inner-city after school program to working on a Habitat For Humanity home, we want to be witnessing through our lives and looking for opportunities to share the gospel in both word and deed.
How can I get involved?
You can call (336.819.4352) or e-mail (chris@greenstreet.org) the College Pastor, Chris Barrett, or you can meet us at Connection Class on Sunday Morning at 9:45am. We meet in the Choir Practice room (the first room to the right as you enter the A Entrance off Phillips Avenue).
We offer two worship services on Sunday morning.
Our BLEND service is at 8:30am and is a mixture of Traditional and Contemporary music styles.
Our BOLD service is at 11:00am and is a full blown Contemporary Worship experience.
